Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND)
Many young people have some form of special needs. This may be to do with learning difficulty, physical difficulty or the result of attachment and trauma difficulty. These needs can make learning difficult and they are obstacles that we want to work with children to overcome. It is important to get the right people involved early so we understand the problem and how to overcome it. Having a ‘label’ or a ‘diagnosis’ is only one step: what is important is knowing how to help.
If you think your child may have special needs
Ask for a review of the Personal Education Plan (PEP)
Get agreement from everyone about what can be done to be done to help, how improvement can be measured and how often progress will be reviewed.
